Childcare and Preschool Program Has a New Look
We have had exciting changes to our childcare and preschool program including a new name! Previously known as Building Blocks Special Needs Preschool and Buttons and Bows Daycare, our new name is the Easter Seals Child Development Center. This program name better represents the services we provide to children ages 6 weeks through 12 years old. The early care and education services we provide includes:
- Infant & Toddler Young children 6 weeks through 36 months are enrolled in our infant & toddler program. This class includes 2 lead teachers and an assistant. All staff members have received specialized training in child growth and development. As a result, we have implemented Ohio’s Infant and Toddler Guidelines. This is a guide for programs to use to assure that all children have “responsive, reciprocal, and respectful care” to prepare them for school and life! We focus on 6 areas of development: Physical Health, Emotional, Social, Motor, Language & Communication, and Cognitive Development. We use a developmental screening, Ages & Stages Questionnaire, with each infant and toddler to determine the individual needs.
- Preschool Children ages 3 to 5 years old are enrolled in our preschool program. There are 4 classrooms on site; each has a lead teacher and an assistant. All lead teachers have college degrees in the field of education. All preschool staff have received specialized training in implementing the state’s Early Learning Content Standards. These early learning guidelines were developed to provide a framework for preschool and childcare programs to better meet the educational needs of children ages 3 to 5 years. The guidelines are aligned with the K-12 standards, those followed by the public school districts. Other educational tools we use to improve the developmental outcomes of our children include the use of the Creative Curriculum as well as developmental assessments (Brigance & Galileo) and screenings (“Get It, Got It, Go”). As in the infant & toddler room, we focus on all areas of development including Physical Health, Emotional, Social, Motor, Language & Communication, and Cognitive Development. Our main goal is to prepare the child to enter kindergarten.
- School Age Children up to 7 years old are enrolled in the school age program. During the summer, we have a full day program, 5 days a week. During the school year, we provide care before and after school. This program includes fun activities, games, and crafts.
Our programs include full and half day options. Daily activities are educational, and the curriculum is driven by developmentally appropriate practices to meet each child’s developmental needs. Meals and snacks are provided. Tuition assistance is available to qualified families. We enroll all children; each classroom is inclusive. Children with special needs or delays, can receive on-site therapy (speech, occupational, and physical therapy) while in the program.
Hours of operation are 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. For more information about Easter Seals Preschool and Day Care Programs, call the Director of Early Childhood Services at 330-743-1168 or contact us.
